Every edition includes the full North America continent, spanning the forests of Appalachia and the floodplains of Laramidia, with every playable species native to that land and time.
New continents arrive as separate expansions, each bringing its own map region and the species endemic to it. Each DLC is priced by its scope — the size of the continent and the number of species it adds.
Expansions add places and species, never power. No expansion species outclasses a base-game animal — survival is decided by biology and skill, not by what you bought.

The base game ($45) is the complete North America continent — Appalachia and Laramidia — with every playable species native to that region and era, plus all future updates to that continent. Additional continents are released as separate DLC expansions, each priced according to the size of its map and the number of species it introduces. DLC is never required to play, and expansion species never outclass base-game animals.
